MY
VISION
"Our mission at Black on Black Crime Cleveland is to reduce violence within the Black community through education, support, empowerment, and collaborative efforts, fostering a safer and more unified environment."
Art McKoy, a prominent community leader and civic activist in Cleveland, Ohio, is the founder of Black on Black Crime Inc., an organization he established over 30 years ago to combat violence and crime within the Black community. McKoy's efforts have been pivotal in organizing the community during times of grief and advocating for justice and peace.
One of his notable initiatives is the Memorial Wall of Sorrow, which commemorates over one thousand young individuals who have died in Cuyahoga County.
Born in Garland, North Carolina, in 1944, McKoy moved to Northeast Ohio at the age of 13.
He graduated from East High School in 1962 and later attended the Erma Lee Beauty and Barber School. After serving in the Vietnam War, McKoy returned to Cleveland, where he eventually overcame personal struggles with drug addiction and dedicated himself to community activism.
Throughout his career, McKoy has been involved in various advocacy efforts, including protesting inner-city violence, challenging police practices, and fighting for better conditions in public transportation. He also hosts a weekly radio show, "Black on Black Crime with Art McKoy," where he discusses issues of violence, poverty, and systemic neglect of the Black community.
